Pumpkin Spice Margaritas
Pumpkin spice makes everything better, even a margarita! This recipe is a wonderfully unexpected blend of tequila, pumpkin spices, and orange liqueur.
Ingredients
Tequila
Orange Liqueur
Lime Juice
Canned, unsweetened pumpkin puree
Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove)
Brown Sugar
Sea Salt
Ice
Optional: Lime wedges, or cinnamon sticks for garnish
Simple Syrup
To make the pumpkin spice simple syrup that gives this margarita its signature flavor, begin by bringing together brown sugar, water, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger in a saucepan. Simmer on low until brown sugar has dissolved, then cool. Once cooled completely, you can mix in the pumpkin spice puree. This simple syrup can be refrigerated or used right away.
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground ginger
⅛ tsp ground clove
1 15 oz. can pumpkin puree
Salt and Sugar Rim
While the simple syrup is cooling, create the salt and sugar for the rim of your glasses. You’ll need a blend of brown sugar, sea salt, and cinnamon on a small plate.
2 tbsp sea salt (course)
1 tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Prepare your margarita glasses by wetting the rims with a lime wedge (or water) and dipping them in your salt and sugar mixture. Fill the glasses with ice.
Mixing it Up
When you’re ready for your drink, you’ll need a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Pour tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and your premade simple syrup into the shaker. Shake until combined and chilled, then strain into your prepared glasses. If you’re feeling festive, garnish with a lime and a cinnamon stick.
